Dress Up Your Pets and Throw on a Hat

Dress Up Your Pets and Throw a Hat On

Can you believe that two auspicious holidays fall within a day of each other? Normally such an event would leave people in a quandary – do we celebrate holiday one, or holiday two? As you can probably tell from our celebration of National Donut Day and National Book Lover’s Day, we sure don’t like to miss out on any special occasions!

National Dress Up Your Pet Day takes place on January 14, 2015. It was founded to celebrate pets and to support the pet fashion community in a fun way. The very next day is National Hat Day. Apparently it – literally – takes an act of Congress to make any national holiday official, and neither of these are on the congressional books. But, in spite of the fact that their origin is unknown, they’ve both been around for years. Hmmmm – what’s the best way to combine these two celebrations . . . .

If you ever watched The Tonight Show while Jay Leno was its host, you probably heard him routinely criticize people who dressed pets. He would go on and on about the “morons” who put their pets in people clothes and how humiliated or angry the pets clearly were. And then he’d show the pictures. Because we can relate to Jay’s position, we’d like you to know that we did not dress these animals. Having said that, we appreciate their willingness to pose for such pictures, thus providing us the the perfect illustration for our holiday combo. We’d also like you to know that no animals were hurt in the process of making these pictorials. Unless you take into account the pride factor.

          1. It’s easy. Try it once in the comment section of your own blog (so you can trash the comment if it doesn’t work):

Pick a photo on your blog that’s stored in your media library with a wordpress file URL.

Right click the photo, press copy URL, then paste into the comment (without the tail end info re width and height).

            OR

Go to your media library and grab the URL there (without the size info).

          2. Thank you for the instructions, Nancy! I’m in the middle of a Jeopardy competition, so I’ve copies these instructions to try tomorrow. Thanks again!

  1. Orlando once wore a hat, for a special occasion and for about three seconds. Enough time for me to get in three quick shots. Unfortunately I don’t know how to include photos in this comments section – otherwise I would share with you. However, if you want to see the first shot it can be found here, just scroll down til you find him looking coy: https://paulinekingblog.wordpress.com/2014/04/10/still-no-art-just-more-life/ The last shot is hilarious! Though that information is no use to you if you can’t see it!

Normally I wouldn’t dream of dressing up my pets, though Siddy was gifted a very pretty jingly flower for his collar for Christmas which he loved wearing – he pranced about like a show pony in it – so maybe he might like to dress up? Never say never!

        1. And it only works with photos with a wordpress URL (stored in your media gallery) . . . not from other places on the web

  2. Nah, I wouldn’t do that to my Lady G. She would hate it and then, m.e.
However, Glamor Puss wins, and The Traditional Collection-ending Bride seems to be trying to hard: white on white isn’t worth your cream. 😀 😀 😀

    1. Yah – I thought seriously about breaking tradition and having a dramatic finale with the belly dancing cat that was decked out in blue chiffon, swirling her chiffon scarf behind her, but I realized she wasn’t wearing a hat – so wedding cat won the spot. Lady G, aye? I bet she’d be up for a Glamor Puss topper! -El
